What does it mean to be ready for what you want? How do you get ready?

Today I posted a podcast about the new year, fresh starts and how to get into the energy of new beginnings... aka how to dream, fantasize, play, etc. (without getting in the way of what you want coming to you).

here's the link to share
I also posted the quote from Joseph Campbell today on instagram. But it felt really important to expound on it. How do you get ready? What does it mean to be ready? How do you know you're ready?

This is the exact kind of "work" I do every day with myself. I work on being ready for what I want. Let me share with you some things I do. Feel free to ask questions, and remember we can talk about this in the Facebook group or when I go live.
It's really important work to do! (And it really works)
...

HOW TO GET/BE READY

1. First you need to know what you want.

If you listened to the podcast you'll hear me talk about this process- how to know what you want, how to find it and feel it and get excited about, how to let your imagination run wild and show you exactly what you want most. So step one, as usual, is to get CLEAR.

Know what you want? Ok, let's keep going.

2. Second, do you believe you can really have it? Are you SURE you? Do you think you "deserve" it? Does it seem plausible to you? You need to get real with yourself and find out how much conviction you have here.
You may think that you really want something. You may think you're working toward it. You may envision it in your life. But if some part of you doubts it, it likely won't be yours. So this is when you check your beliefs. (this takes a lot of work and an outside perspective sometimes, so always look for help when you need it)

When you talk about it, think about, journal about, ask yourself this:
  • Am I being/feeling positive or negative, optimistic or pessimistic, excited or doubtful?
  • What in me is feeling negative or doubtful? What are those beliefs? (when you find the beliefs, you have to rewrite them into something better!)
  • Do I think I deserve it? How do I know?
  • Can I fully imagine this in my world? And when I do, do I feel happy about it?
  • Do I feel good thinking about it or do I feel desperate/anxious/impatient?

3. So now you know what you want, and you've done the work to find a way to believe that it gets to be yours. Now you have to make space for it and let it come. Please notice I did not say "make" it happen!
There are SO many ways to create space for what you want:
  • Clear out your house, closets, car, drawers, ANYTHING that is cluttered or overwhelming. This is a powerful move to make for a lot of reasons. Give it a try.
  • If people around you don't support what you want, they aren't your people to connect with and are taking up precious space. Yea, I said it. You can't get ready when people are squashing your vision. Bye, said people. Get serious about yourself and your life.
  • If things in your environment don't support what you want, they have to shift, too. Your job, your living situation, your health, you name it. Is there anything in your world that is incompatible with what you want? How can you change the way you interact with so it will feel better for you? ( This is a HUGE one and may require extra support/guidance)
  • Sometimes creating space means quitting a job or leaving a relationship or moving or doing something drastic. But remember, wherever you go, there you are... so, the REAL work is the internal work.

Essentially, you make it your priority. You act like you REALLY care about it and you REALLY want it. The version of you that doesn't have what you want needs to shift into the version of you that GETS what you want. Keep in mind this is ALWAYS an act of self-love, though. If you go about trying to change who you are, you'll get even farther away. But we'll talk about that another time. ❤️
